For those interested in what other book clubs are reading, I thought I’d update you on what one of my clubs has selected:
- July: I Think I Love You by Allison Pearson
- Aug: Devotion: A Memoir by Dani Shapiro
- Sept: A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan
- Oct: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
- Nov: Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand by Helen Simonson
- Dec: Divergent by Veronica Roth
- Jan: Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
- Feb: Just Kids by Patti Smith
- Mar: Swim Back to Me by Ann Packer
Has anyone discussed any of these with their book clubs? How did it work out?

It’s kind of awesome that Divergent is on that list considering most of the rest of the books seem to be more literary fiction

I was very happy the group selected it! This club has traditionally read a wide variety of books, usually with 1-2 SF/Fantasy choices, as well as at least one YA or even children’s book each year. This batch is more literary than usual, probably as a reaction to our last year being a little lighter than usual. We’ll see what happens next time

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks for a one-time book club (we just met to discuss this book, it’s not a formal book club) and we had a great discussion especially since some people there were doctors so they were able to give us their perspectives. Here is my review if you are interested: http://mentalfoodie.blogspot.com/2010/05/book-review-immortal-life-of-henrietta.html Haven’t read the other books…
