Our sweet kitty left our lives Wednesday morning. After about 19 years of life (he was an adult when we met him, we don’t know precisely how old he was), his body was done, and it was time for him to rest.

Book Shots: Cat Nook
My cat has always enjoyed a good book, particularly at bedtime. He’s sure there are some good ones on my Nook.
To see more of this guy, click on one of the links above for older pictures. To see more pictures of him with the Nook (including one with my daughter), check out the blog’s new Facebook page. You can see his summer haircut!
Thank you to my husband Arnold for coming in with his camera when the opportunity presented. He took a lot of wonderful photos!

BBAW: My To Be Read Shelf
These books are my active Too Be Read books. There are many, many more unread books around the house that I had planned to read, and still may someday…
The one on top is the one I pulled out when I finished my last book, I haven’t started it yet. In general, books I think I’ll be reading soon are on the left and have bookmarks. If I’ve committed to review it, it’s on the left. Same with upcoming book club books, once I actually have them on hand. That set is roughly sorted. The right half is pretty random.
You can compare to this photo, from a post 3 months ago:
I’d like to say that all the books that are no longer on my shelf have been read. Sadly, that is not the case. As it turns out, I’ve only read 4 of them. Another 8 have been relocated to secondary locations (such as piles on my bedroom floor). The rest are still there.
I have a closeup from early August on my Bookmarks page. Interestingly, out of the 12 books pictured there, I’ve read 7. Make of that what you will.
This post was for the Book Blogger Appreciation Week Show Us The TBR pile event.
Book Shots: bookmarks

Today’s photo is of my TBR shelf again, or at least the books that I think I’m likely to be reading soon. Each one contains a bookmark made by my daughter or me. We’ve had a lot of fun making these.

Book Shots: Vacation Reading
Our family went on vacation last week. I knew we’d be very busy, and I had books I needed to get read, so I only brought those:

- The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy was for Book Club M on Monday, just after returning. I finished it just before we returned home. Click the title for my review.
- The Castaways by Elin Hilderbrand was up next, for a blog tour Friday. I read it in the car on the way home. Again, click the title for my post.
- My stop on the One Scream Away blog tour isn’t until next Tuesday. I read it after my vacation was over. Check back here for my review and a giveaway!

My daughter was much more optimistic with her reading (and she had more books in the car!). She managed to squeeze in more time with books: while I was planning our next day, making sure my blog was updating, and her favorite– before we woke up in the morning. Most of these are books she she’s read before and wanted to read again.
Book shots: early explorations

This is one of my first scrapbook pages. A had just turned one.
Book Shot– my TBRs

Books I'll be reading soon?
My To Be Read pile was falling over, so I cleaned off my side of the headboard and sorted the books into it. Note that this is only books acquired since Book Group Expo last year. Anything older than that is pretty much inaccessible at the moment. I’d like to think I’ll get those sorted someday as well.
This isn’t as fun as my previous Book Shot. Check it out if you haven’t already!
On an unrelated note: This marks my two month blogiversary!
Book shots: reading upside-down

My daughter at age 7. Luckily she didn't read very fast yet, as turning pages was troublesome.
