I love Stephenson, but he's a novelist of ideas and, once he had the (rather brilliant) ideas out of the way in Reamde -- loved the idea of paying off ransoms through an MMORPG -- the book devolved into an extended action sequence involving characters who began to seem very nearly interchangeable (and there were WAY too many of them). Neal, I eagerly await your next book. Just bear in mind that action-oriented terrorism thrillers are about 10,000 miles away from whatever magic place it is where your core talents lie.

Hmm, I can't say that would have occurred to me! I can see some similarities in the character, but I'm not seeing the parallels in the situation. I'd love a pointer to someone who said that, though! This book has tremendous possibilities for discussion and analysis.

I also read Divergent this month and enjoyed it. Wow, how did you get through 6 audios in a single month? That's a lot! I got through one short one and about half of another. Then again, I am rarely alone, so I don't have a lot of time to listen.

Looks like you had an excellent reading month - nice way to start off the year! Very sorry to hear about your kitty, though.
