Winners: How to Tame a Modern Rogue by Diana Holquist

how to tame a modern rogueThank you to everyone who entered this giveaway for How to Tame a Modern Rogue by Diana Holquist. Thank you to Hachette Books for allowing me to host this giveaway!

Since this is a book set in modern times with a regency romance sensibility, I asked those entering to tell me what their favorite era for romance for a bonus enry.

There was absolutely no consensus in the answers! We had:

  • Tudor period (1485-1603)
  • 1700s Scotland/England
  • Colonial period (1700s)
  • Regency (1811-1820) (2 votes)
  • Victorian (1837-1900)  (3 votes)
  • American Frontier/Wild Wild West (late 1700s-1900) (3 votes)
  • World War II/ 1930s-1940s
  • Modern

I’ll conclude that although the 1800s are popular, whenever a romance is set, someone is interested :-) .  If I’d asked more people we might have gotten answers from pre-historic to Science Fiction.

Now, for what you are here to find out!

The winners are:

  1. Alicia
  2. Beth (already won)
  3. Stacie
  4. Anfisa
  5. Wanda
  6. Pam

They have been notified via e-mail.

Thank you again to everyone.  Congratulations to the winners!

Winners: BBAW Bookmark giveaway

At the end of this post are some very rough instructions for making these bookmarks.

Random.org has spoken, and it has selected the first 5 bookmark winners.  It has also selected the next 5, assuming mailing these goes as expected.

  1. Jenn (who doesn’t like pink, and has one of the most popular names in book blogger land)
  2. Beth F (Who likes blue. I hope this helps my karma for winning the bookmark she’s giving away!)
  3. Corinne (Maybe the bookmark will get there in time for you to use it for Catching Fire)
  4. Serena (Savvy Verse & Wit) (who has a much better review of Tallgrass than mine.)
  5. Marta (my fellow Miss L’eau blog tour member)

I was thrilled with how many of the winners were bloggers that I know, through their blogs and twitter and discussion forums.  Then I realized that by the end of BBAW, that was true for most of the participants!

Thanks to everyone that stopped by for this giveaway, and particularly those that already know my blog, or checked it out while they were here :-) .

BBAW bookmarks

Yes, I did make these myself.  Here are some very rough directions for how I made them. I may be doing it horribly wrong– I had the idea, and looked at just enough beading stuff to figure out how to make it work.

Supplies: Glass beads, charms,  flexible beading wire, crimp beads, .75-1.5in wide ribbon.  I buy all my supplies at Michaels.

Tools: Wire cutters, needle nose pliers, scissors.  I raided my husband’s tool collection, but they sell them at Michaels as well.

Instructions:

  • I figure out what bead/charm I want for the end, and loop a piece of
    beading wire around it
  • I use a crimping bead to close the loop.
  • I string the rest of the beads on the wire,
  • Then make a loop at the other end, using another crimping bead.
  • Put the ribbon through the loop
  • and pull the wire tight.
  • Crimp the bead in place and trim the wire.

One Scream Away winners!

onescreamawaycoverA big Thank You to Hachette Book Group, who allowed me to host a giveaway for 5 copies of One Scream Away.
There were some great comments as to what makes a great thriller and/or romantic suspense book– you might want to go back and read the comments.

A few examples:

  • “What makes either good, though, is that the characters are relateable and I care about them. Of course, it needs great action and suspense to keep the pages burning by :-) And a great baddie we want to see get his comeuppance helps, too.”  from thekoolaidmom
  • “I know I’m reading a good thriller when
    1) I can’t put the book down even though it’s WAY past my bedtime
    2) I’m exhausted when the book is over because my heart has been pounding from the suspense!” from Nanscorner
  • “A good thriller for me is one that engages me to the point that I become oblivious to everything else, even dinner starting to burn:) ” from Kathy

And now,  the winners are…

  1. Dixie (already won elsewhere)
  2. Kim V
  3. Kathy
  4. scottsgal
  5. jacque (already won elsewhere)
  6. nanscorner
  7. Dawn M.

I’ve e-mailed the winners, and have been hearing back already, which I appreciate.  I particularly appreciate that those that won elsewhere are letting me know, so someone else gets a chance!
